Our guest this episode is author, futurist and design professor Bruce Sterling. This interview was recorded in February 1997 around the release of his novel Holy Fire. He has written ten novels, dozens of short stories, multiple books of essays on futurism and design theory, and the only book on cybercrime from one of the canonical cyberpunk writers, The Hacker Crackdown: Law And Disorder On The Electronic Frontier. He and William Gibson are widely regarded as kickstarters of the modern “steampunk” movement with their novel The Difference Engine. His most recent novel is The Zenith Angle and his next novel The Caryatids will be published next spring.
